Iwami Kagura
While the transmission of traditional performing arts has become an issue in many parts of Japan, Iwami Kagura is a traditional culture that is popular among young people and firmly rooted in the community.
Its stories based on ancient Japanese mythology, glittering costumes, colorful serpents, and exaggerated masks make it easy to feel the storyline even if the words are not conveyed.
Interaction with the performers is another major attraction of this experience. Through interaction, you will learn that they perform as a family and how much they love kagura.
Kagura is held at different locations on different days.
Most are small local shrines.
Visitors can enjoy an up-close view of a powerful stage performance based on Japanese mythology, with gorgeous costumes and props.
After the performance, it will be time for socializing, touching costumes and equipment, and going up on stage to take pictures with the performers.
