We’re excited to share that WaWo Japan Travel has officially relocated to Akasaka, Tokyo. The company was founded in Aoyama back in March 2022, with just two members. Four years later, we’ve grown to a team of nine, and moving to a new office felt like the perfect way to mark the occasion.

Things have been busy on all fronts. Inquiries from new travel agents are at an all time high, and direct bookings through our tour site, WaWo Japan Tours, are coming in by the day. We’ve also been building a solid track record as an inbound tourism consultancy, handling guide trainings, content development, and promotional support for destinations across the country.
Akasaka puts us right in the middle of it all, with access to four stations and six train lines. We’re looking forward to working more closely with partners from this new base.
Looking Ahead
Over the past four years, we’ve partnered with local governments and DMOs across Japan — in the Setouchi area, Hiroshima, Gifu, Saitama, Ehime, Hyogo, Fukushima, and beyond — running guide training programs and building connections with people devoted to seeing their area thrive.
What we’ve found along the way is that there’s no shortage of talented, dedicated guides out there. But many of them don’t get nearly enough opportunities to do what they do best. Some feel stuck following generic itineraries when they’d much rather take visitors to the places they actually love. Our content development projects and FAM tours have only further underlined this reality: the Japanese countryside is full of incredible people and experiences that most of the world still hasn’t heard of.
But we’re going to change that. We’re going to put more energy into connecting these guides and the experiences only they can offer directly with travelers to Japan. It’s also a natural expression of what we’ve strived for since day one: WaWo, drawing on the Japanese words for harmony (和) and human connection (輪).
With a team of nine talented team members from all walks of life and strong ties with providers and governmental bodies across the country, we’re excited for what’s ahead.
Thank you for your continued support.
